Delivering Better Product Value

Most consumers across all income brackets perceive private brands as equal or superior in value to national brands. A 2023 McKinsey Study (download here) shows that 89% of consumers believe “store’s own brand offers similar or superior value for the money to branded products.” Rising food costs and inflation have squashed grocery retailer margins. Fortunately, highly profitable grocery Own brands help offset these economic pressures.

GoNo positions grocery retailers to achieve greater conversion to own brands by removing ingredient, taste, and quality questions, alleviating shopper fear, and leaving behind economic questions. The obvious choice is the grocery’s own brand.

GoNo is the only clinically proven Food as Medicine App for consumers to determine what foods are good or bad for their individual medical conditions and wellness goals. We empower consumers to make the right decision from what’s available to them at the physical or online grocery store. Consumer loyalty is cemented by grocers providing authentic personalized precision medicine that results in greater cart size, conversion to own brands, cross-selling to medically relevant products, unequivocal consumer data, and the bolstering of brand value through medical authenticity.

Upselling Health

Suzy is shopping for salmon in your store. Her doctor says she has high cholesterol. But unless she makes significant changes to her diet, Suzy’s salmon won’t’ stave off the statins. Suzy surely needs more.

So, Suzy shares her medical conditions (and, optionally, wellness goals, allergies, sensitivities, taste preferences, weight, biometrics, DNA, etc) confidentially with GoNo under HIPAA protection. GoNo then recommends products from your inventory that are clinically proven good for Suzy, whether online or in your store. What started as a salmon purchase now includes lentils, sour cream, spinach, and saffron, along with supplements such as Eicosapentaenoic Acid, Beta-Glucan, Beta-Sitosterol, and more.

Upselling Suzy with foods and supplements that address her clinical needs serves Suzy and will deepen her loyalty to you while increasing your profitability.

Leveraging Inflation for Own Brand Growth

The good news for Grocery Retailers is that inflation fell to 3.2 percent in July, well below its 2022 peak of 9.1 percent, according to the Consumer Price Index summary, US Bureau of Labor Statistics, August 10, 2023. That being said, inflationary threats are not gone. The McKinsey & Company 2023 State of Grocery report cites that, “66 percent of consumers have sought out less expensive goods, an increase of 4% from 2022” (download here).

GoNo can cause consumers to evaluate national brands in contrast to Private Label “Own Brands” from a nutritional and health effectiveness standpoint that are offered at the same or slightly lower prices. Own Brands deliver considerably higher margins to Grocery Retailers, further building Own Brand value and adoption for long-term performance and are considered a key strategy for strengthening grocery retailing. Strong retailers can deliver healthier products to consumers which benefits everyone.

Personalized Precision Recommendations = Profits

Your shoppers want to make better food choices to improve health, treat disease, increase immunity, or help achieve other wellness goals. What are you doing to support that? We will help you with medical facts and clinical evidence.

Over half of shoppers read labels to determine which products are beneficial or harmful to them. Most people read the chart but miss the ingredients, and less than 1% understand any of it at all.

With over a decade of development of our proprietary AI, we’ve made it simple for consumers to know what foods in your store are right for them. We have 650,000 product UPCs and are growing.

The GoNo Food Finder takes the tedious task of reading product labels and replaces it with a simple, speedy scan of product barcodes, resulting in recommendations for foods clinically proven good for each individual.

The impact of providing this information will:

  • amplify your loyalty program to influence shoppers to spend more with you
  • Increase sales of your own private-label brands by bringing attention to them as healthier alternatives to national brands
  • derive greater insights and intelligence of your shoppers

Assuring Shopper Trust in Food as Medicine

The time is ripe to leverage Food as Medicine to increase profitability and build indelible loyalty with your shoppers by meeting their aspirations for improving their health and wellness.

Grocery Retailers have the unique opportunity to advance by helping shoppers with their health and wellness journeys at a time when they are laser-focused on it.

Trust is paramount. As shoppers look for information to help them make healthier choices, their trust in the information is critical. The rules that govern GoNo include:

Every ingredient grade is backed by peer-reviewed clinical studies conducted by unbiased third parties. These third parties include researchers, colleges, universities, medical associations, hospitals, physicians, scientists, pharmacists, and other healthcare practitioners. The grade assigned to an ingredient represents the probability that such an ingredient will have a positive or negative effect on a large cohort of randomly selected people based upon the findings of the relevant clinical study. The calculation of product grades is algorithmically derived using our patented Efficacy Engine®, which evaluates individual ingredient efficacy in relation to each disease state (and condition goal) and uses AI to compute net product efficacy. ANY negative ingredient grade (D, E, F) results in a “NO” product grade. >> more infoThe Formulary Panel is comprised of leading physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, scientists, philosophers, chemists, and nutritionists focused on health, wellness, fitness, and nutrition. They are responsible for authentication of the Efficacy Engine, approving sources of scientific evidence by use of the Efficacy Engine, governance, and oversight. >> more info

The GoNo Food Finder was created explicitly for the purpose of empowering consumers to make healthier food choices as defined by each individual’s medical conditions and wellness goals. Our mission is to integrate nutrition in health through food as medicine

GoNo provides recommendations for foods, beverages, and supplements in the treatment or prevention of disease based upon unbiased, third-party, peer-reviewed clinical studies. 80% of chronic disease is caused by consumption of the wrong foods. We are committed to improve individual health by inspiring and rewarding incremental change towards more nutritious, delicious, and efficacious foods with minimal perceived consumer “pain” associated with “diets” and “healthy” foods. This applies to packaged goods, recipes, and restaurant items.

GoNo will learn individual taste profiles to recommend foods that satiates while providing superior nutrition and efficacy. Consumer demand for healthier food will drive manufacturers, producers, and farmers to deliver better ingredients resulting in a healthier food ecosystem and the betterment of humanity at large.

We are also devoted to providing access to GoNo to benefit underprivileged people in the SNAP program as greater nutrition reduces hunger and improves health outcomes.

Finally, we are committed to actuarially proving the financial benefits of food as medicine to health plans as we build data around food consumption, habit transformation, biometric markers, and health outcomes resulting in decreased healthcare costs and increased funding for innovation in food as medicine for disease prevention.

These are the reasons for which GoNo was created and is our indelible commitment to the future. We invite your company to join in this commitment. You can learn more and make your commitment here.
